Pet care is very important when you own a pet. They need attention from their owners, positive reinforcement, training, and love. Fish are usually excluded from this statement, as they just need food, proper tank maintenance, and a few plants to sustain life.

However, proper pet care is required when you own any pet, and commitment to the time, effort and expense. The decision will be yours to make in choosing what the right pet is for you, but you need to take into account all aspects of your life and that of your family.

Often people get a cat or dog for the sake of their child, supposedly, then resent it and everyone in the family when all the chores devolve onto them.

A pet is not a toy, it is a living being, and unlike a child, it can’t ask for help when it needs it, so you have to educate yourself about shots, proper feeding and so on in the same way new parents learn as much as they can about their baby before it arrives, and then every day as it grows and develops.

If you are single and never home, or love to travel, a dog is a bad choice for you. A cat, bird, or fish are possible choices, but again, cats and birds do need social interaction.
