Cinderella and Marc

Cinderella was a silver buff cocker, very pale blond in color. When we first got her, she had a urinary tract infection so we put a diaper on her. Good thing we did, because a week later, she went into heat! When you rescue an animal from a shelter, especially a senior, it is not always clear whether or not they have been spayed, so keep an eye out for anything unusual in the first 3 to 6 months of getting a female. She had mammary tumors (breast lumps) common in females that have not been spayed. Prostate issues are common in male dogs that have not been neutered. Unspayed females can also develop something called pyometra, which is like appendicitis of the uterus. It is an emergency medical condition that can be avoided if you spay your female. Cinderella is pictured here with my youngest nephew Marc.
